Senior Vice President, Lobbyist – State & Local Government Affairs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Act as the Republican West Region lobbyist for Citi within the U.S. Government Affairs team, primarily focusing on Texas.

• Promote Citi’s public policy interests with government officials across a range of Republican Western states.

• Identify, assess, prioritize, and convey policy issues and their implications.

• Collaborate on policy matters and advocacy with internal U.S. Government Affairs partners.

• Create strategic engagement plans in conjunction with the team lead.

• Drive plan implementation by interacting with portfolio government officials, trade associations, and consultants.

• Carry out engagement and meeting strategies that involve senior Citi business leaders and government representatives.

• Cultivate and enhance relationships with policymakers, particularly in areas where Citi has a presence.

• Work alongside U.S. Government Affairs colleagues to further political and policy objectives.

• Oversee Citi’s participation in relevant trade associations and utilize consultants to support lobbying initiatives.

• Offer political and policy insights to colleagues and internal business partners.

• Represent Citi at public forums, government meetings, third-party gatherings, political events, and conferences.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.

• At least 7 years of experience in government relations or a related field, including roles in government, large corporations, trade associations, or other business entities.

• Experience in collaborating with teams of government affairs professionals is preferred.

• Familiarity with financial services public policy is preferred.

• Established relationships with government officials in Texas are essential.

• Experience in coordinating with coalitions of peers, external consultants, and partners, including trade associations and political organizations.

• Willingness to travel over 50% of the time across various jurisdictions.

• Strong comprehension of how government actions influence business decisions.

• In-depth knowledge of the intersection of U.S. state and federal political trends and their effects on financial services policy.

• Ability to convert political dynamics into a successful government affairs engagement strategy.

• Capacity to build trusted relationships with senior-level policymakers and business partners.

• Experience in building, coordinating, and engaging colleagues and networks across various geographies and functions.

• Proficient in effective communication with diverse audiences.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work efficiently in uncertain conditions, and produce high-quality work with minimal supervision.

• Strategic and tactical thinking skills to achieve government affairs policy advocacy goals.
