Senior VFX Artist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop high-quality, efficient special effects utilizing traditional artistic skills and 3D software while optimizing memory usage and gameplay performance.

• Keep up-to-date with modern effects methodologies and explore new technologies and solutions.

• Work alongside art, design, audio, and development teams to produce visual effects.

• Operate under the creative supervision of the Art Director and ensure timely delivery according to production timelines.

• Engage in feedback cycles by both providing and receiving input within art and level design groups.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in crafting high-quality VFX for video games.

• Profound knowledge of real-time special effects, particle systems, post-processing effects, shaders, and animation fundamentals.

• A robust artistic portfolio showcasing your skills.

• Strong understanding of game engines, tools, pipelines, and development workflows.

• Familiarity with a commercial 3D software package.

• A university degree in visual arts (with a focus on graphic design, commercial art, graphic communications, or fine arts) or a college diploma in graphic arts.

• Exceptional communication skills across disciplines and the ability to follow directions and collaborate with art, design, and technical teams.

• Capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritize competing demands, maintain attention to detail, and meet deadlines in a production setting.

• Openness to creative direction and active involvement in constructive critique.

• Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic, high quality standards, and a clear artistic vision.

• A true passion for video games and visual storytelling.

• Preferred familiarity with tools such as Maya, JangaFx, Houdini, Photoshop, and scripting languages like Python or Lua.
