This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia, +5 more countries.
• Develop and enhance high-quality, game-ready 3D environments, encompassing terrain, buildings, structures, props, landmarks, and various other environmental elements.
• Establish and refine the environment art pipelines utilized throughout the project.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior artists.
• Participate in estimations, planning, documentation, and production workflows.
• Collaborate closely with Level Design and Game Design to craft environments that facilitate player navigation, enhance gameplay flow, establish points of interest, create encounter areas, and improve overall map composition.
• Efficiently create and refine blockouts and layouts while taking into account gameplay requirements, visual composition, scalability, and production constraints.
• Work in close collaboration with Art, Design, and Technical teams.
• Operate independently and take responsibility for environment-related tasks.
• Over 5 years of professional experience in various game development projects.
• Previous experience in creating MMO environments using Unity.
• Strong background with standard 3D software and environment art workflows.
• Experience in developing maps and environments in Unity for mobile MMOs.
• Proven ability to create blockouts and layouts efficiently, with a solid understanding of gameplay flow, player navigation, and environmental composition.
• A strong passion for video games and the capacity to collaborate effectively with team members.
• Capability to offer guidance and support to colleagues regarding environment art and specific 3D tasks.
• Highly autonomous in terms of environment production and pipeline workflows within Unity.
• Strong understanding of the performance requirements and technical limitations of MMO mobile games in Unity.
• Proficient in utilizing Substance Painter and other standard tools for environment art.
• Ability to meet expected visual quality and art direction standards even when concepts or blueprints are not fully defined.
• Good grasp of visual styles, references, and the expectations for various tasks and projects.
• Familiarity with environment art pipelines, asset exporting, implementation, and process automation workflows.
• Solid understanding of environment optimization, including LODs, draw calls, texture budgets, materials, and scene complexity.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
• Strong capabilities in reporting, estimation, and documentation.
• Knowledge of VFX and environmental effects will be highly regarded.
• Technical Art knowledge or advanced skills in the Unity Engine will be greatly valued.
• Skills in automation, optimization, and workflow enhancement will be highly appreciated.
