This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Input spatial data utilizing established GIS workflows, coordinate geometry, digitizing techniques, and georeferencing methods.
• Georeference design plans, record surveys, and historical maps for integration into the GIS database.
• Generate custom maps, exhibits, and sketches employing ESRI ArcGIS software.
• Conduct spatial analysis and geoprocessing in ArcGIS to produce spreadsheets, data tables, statistics, and project deliverables.
• Develop, update, and maintain GIS data libraries and field data collection codes.
• Create and manage static geometric utility networks while performing routine diagnostics.
• Assess GIS data for completeness and accuracy by following established quality control procedures.
• Create, modify, and sustain GIS features, attributes, and metadata from various data sources.
• Address client and stakeholder inquiries regarding GIS data, maps, and associated information.
• Integrate record surveys into GIS databases through georeferencing and hyperlinking.
• Stay updated on GIS principles, database design, emerging technologies, hardware, and software.
• Assist with construction inspections as necessary.
• Support underground utility locate activities as required.
• Represent Kaukahi in meetings with clients, projects, and stakeholders.
• Carry out additional responsibilities to meet project objectives and client needs.
• Adjust to changing project priorities as directed by company and project leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in GIS, Geography, Information Systems Management, or a related field, with major coursework in GIS; equivalent academic credentials or a GIS certification may also be considered.
• 7–10 years of experience in utilizing GIS technology within a multi-user GIS environment.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may satisfy certain minimum qualifications.
• Valid state driver’s license or the ability to obtain and maintain one upon hiring.
• Driving record that complies with Kaukahi’s driving policy and insurance requirements.
• Understanding of GIS principles and technologies.
• Familiarity with GPS receivers, satellite constellation theory, signalization, field data collection hardware, and post-processing techniques.
• Knowledge of data entry, digitizing, and georeferencing from aerial imagery and mapping products.
• Awareness of project management principles and organizational practices.
• Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS (ArcMap) and/or ArcGIS Pro.
• Capability to integrate CAD data within ArcGIS Desktop environments.
• Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Skill in operating scanners, printers, large-format plotters, and other office equipment.
• Ability to utilize personal computers and standard office software.
• Capacity to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior GIS analysts and field technicians.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize tasks, prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to maintaining reliable full-time attendance.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Capability to meet physical requirements, including frequent lifting and carrying of 25–50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds.
• Preferred or highly desirable experience with utility distribution systems, utility locating and surveying, GPR, Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access, and ArcGIS extensions/add-ons.
• Preferred certifications: GISP and ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Professional (EADP).
