This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Accurately process complex payrolls for both the U.S. and Canada in a timely manner.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, provincial, union, prevailing wage, and certified payroll regulations.
• Review calculations related to wages, deductions, withholdings, taxes, fringe benefits, and any employee changes.
• Administer payroll for union members, including reporting on union fringe and ensuring compliance with union agreements.
• Oversee processing and reporting of prevailing wage and certified payroll.
• Reconcile payroll, tax, and banking accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Identify potential risks and rectify payroll discrepancies.
• Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws, union agreements, payroll regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate payroll-related projects, track action items, follow up with stakeholders, and drive initiatives to completion.
• Lead the daily prioritization of payroll tasks.
• Communicate with stakeholders to resolve payroll issues, tax inquiries, and system enhancements.
• Provide support for the recently implemented Workday environment and foster continuous improvement in payroll operations.
• Construction experience is essential.
• Experience with prevailing wage is required.
• Union experience is mandatory.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in multi-state payroll processing.
• At least 3 years of experience in union payroll processing and reporting.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience related to prevailing wage.
• At least 3 years of advanced payroll processing experience.
• Intermediate to expert-level proficiency in Excel, including skills in pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and macros.
• Quick adaptability to new systems is necessary.
• Experience with job costing and allocating payroll expenses to projects is required.
• Familiarity with union environments and managing complex union payrolls is essential.
• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is also preferred.
