Senior Underwriter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and determine pricing for endorsements, renewals, and new business in accordance with guidelines and authority specified in the underwriting manual and as directed by the manager.

• The lines of business to underwrite encompass general liability, auto liability (including HNO), physical damage, umbrella/excess, property, crime, motor truck cargo, contingent auto, and cargo.

• Deliver exceptional customer service by responding promptly and courteously to all information requests.

• Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and issuance of policies, as identified and assigned by the manager. This may occasionally involve delegating tasks to an underwriting assistant.

• Clearly communicate company standards, mission, underwriting guidelines, and requirements to brokers.

• Maintain precise documentation within the file and/or electronic notes detailing the underwriting thought process.

• Order and review inspection reports to evaluate risk quality and validate exposure base accuracy, as assigned by the manager.

• Proactively manage relationships with assigned brokers and agents.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Transportation Underwriter in a multi-state and multi-line commercial insurance setting is required.

• Prior experience working remotely from a home office 100% of the time is necessary if the applicant is not local to the Greater Cleveland area and/or cannot commute daily to the local office.

• Strong technical knowledge and skills in Property & Casualty underwriting, particularly focused on Commercial Auto.

• Advanced understanding of ISO commercial class codes and CLM rules, forms, rating, and regulatory requirements.

• Extensive knowledge of underwriting and pricing principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge to make informed underwriting and pricing decisions based on program criteria and strategy.
