Medical Biller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Follow up on outstanding insurance claims to ensure timely processing and reimbursement.

• Review Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) to assess the appropriate next steps for each account.

• Contact insurance providers via phone and payer portals to obtain claim status and resolve unresolved issues.

• Investigate denied claims to identify underlying causes and determine the resolution path.

• Prepare, submit, and track appeals, including gathering the necessary supporting documentation required by each payer.

• Escalate intricate or aged denials that necessitate further review or intervention.

• Maintain thorough and precise documentation of all follow-up activities within the billing system.

• Monitor the status of assigned accounts to keep accounts receivable up to date and minimize aging.

• Highlight recurring denial and payer trends to facilitate process improvements within the billing team.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

• 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, or insurance follow-up.

• Solid understanding of the healthcare revenue cycle and reimbursement processes.

• Ability to read and interpret Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) and apply them to account decisions.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail across high claim volumes.

• Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with payers and internal teams.

• Proficiency in using computers and standard office software.

• Experience with Epic or a similar practice management or billing system is preferred.

• Professional billing or coding certification such as CPB, CPC, or RHIT is preferred.

• Familiarity with a value-based care or multi-practice physician group environment is preferred.

• Experience managing denials and appeals across various payer types is preferred.
