This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +45 more states.
• Assist in shaping compensation philosophy, governance, and program design for various employee groups
• Perform market pricing, benchmarking, internal equity assessments, pay equity evaluations, range analysis, and compensation analysis
• Create models, dashboards, reports, and recommendations for HR leaders, managers, and stakeholders within the business
• Facilitate annual compensation planning, incentive processes, offer evaluations, promotions, transfers, and other pay-related decisions
• Manage compensation structures, job data, range details, and associated documentation
• Contribute significantly to Mercury’s ongoing career architecture initiative
• Analyze job and compensation data, evaluating the impact of job families, sub-families, levels, and role placements on pay structures, internal equity, and compensation processes
• Offer data-driven insights and identify compensation-related risks and opportunities
• Assist in job data alignment, documentation, stakeholder coordination, communication, and integration with compensation processes
• Support the strategy, governance, and assessment of health and welfare, 401k/retirement, time-off, and other employee benefit programs
• Examine participation, utilization, costs, vendor performance, and employee experience data
• Collaborate with consultants, carriers, vendors, HRIS, Payroll, and internal stakeholders to assess program performance and address issues
• Aid in the annual enrollment strategy and benefits communications
• Review audit findings, identify issue patterns, and analyze plan information to highlight risks and areas for improvement
• Provide guidance to HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, managers, employees, and business leaders regarding compensation and benefits
• Simplify complex Total Rewards concepts into understandable language and develop materials for managers and employees
• Safeguard confidential employee and company information
• Utilize HRIS, compensation planning, reporting, spreadsheet, analytical, AI-driven, and automation tools to enhance data quality, efficiency, and decision-making
• Document processes, pinpoint control points, and suggest enhancements
• Oversee multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects with minimal supervision
• Keep abreast of the latest compensation and benefits practices, regulatory changes, and market trends
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Economics, Business, or Mathematics
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in compensation, benefits, HR analytics, or Total Rewards, with a primary focus on compensation and significant experience in benefits programs
• Familiarity with market pricing, compensation structures, annual compensation planning, pay equity, job data, and compensation analysis
• Experience in evaluating benefits programs, analyzing plan or vendor data, and supporting benefits strategies or communications without direct benefits administration responsibilities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, conditional logic, data validation, and audit-ready analysis
• Knowledge of compensation principles, market data, internal equity, pay equity, job architecture, and benefits program design
• Experience with HRIS, compensation planning, benefits, reporting, or other enterprise People systems
• Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and deliver accurate work on time
• Excellent consulting, communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills
• Capacity to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment
• Demonstrated ability to utilize AI-driven tools for accelerated data analysis, trend identification, findings summarization, and enhanced decision quality while independently validating results
• Strong judgment in applying AI to confidential compensation and benefits tasks, including awareness of data privacy, bias, explainability, and the necessity for appropriate human oversight
• Ability to identify, test, and implement practical AI and automation opportunities
• CCP, CEBS, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or other relevant professional certification is preferred
