This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of executing a substantial, multi-year strategic R&D initiative.
• Coordinate efforts across AI, software engineering, computational biology, laboratory automation, cloud infrastructure, product development, and scientific teams.
• Manage collaborations with universities, CROs, research institutions, government agencies, and commercial partners.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive program plans, critical paths, dependencies, milestones, and risk management registers.
• Lead weekly cross-functional program reviews and executive status meetings.
• Monitor technical deliverables across numerous parallel workstreams and proactively eliminate execution bottlenecks.
• Foster communication between engineering, science, operations, and external collaborators.
• Ensure that projects stay on track, within scope, and in alignment with strategic goals.
• Identify potential risks early, formulate mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as needed.
• Implement scalable program management processes, governance, reporting, and documentation as the organization expands.
• Coordinate with and provide updates to top leadership regarding program status and collaborate with them on commercialization efforts.
• **10+ years** of experience leading large, cross-functional technical programs.
• Practical experience in life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical R&D, or academic biomedical research.
• Strong knowledge of experimental biology, laboratory workflows, protocol development, and scientific reproducibility challenges.
• Experience with wet labs, CROs, cloud laboratories, or laboratory automation systems.
• Proven track record in managing programs that involve multiple organizations and diverse technical fields, including software engineers and experimental scientists.
• Experience in coordinating software engineering teams alongside research, scientific, or hardware organizations.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and systems engineering principles.
• Capability to comprehend complex technical discussions and facilitate decision-making without being the technical expert.
• Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and drive execution in fast-paced environments.
• Background in managing projects or grants for the US federal government and engaging with government officials.
• Strong, proactive, and clear communication style.
