This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct research, outline, draft, and refine comprehensive guides on managing costs for Databricks and Snowflake.
• Organize intricate technical content tailored for data professionals.
• Oversee the entire revision process in collaboration with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) and external technical reviewers.
• Generate a minimum of two technical blog posts each month focusing on cost and query optimization for Databricks and Snowflake.
• Base writing on observed patterns and specific data rather than marketing claims.
• Modify long-form content or create standalone articles linked to product launches, platform enhancements, or user challenges.
• Create research outlines, speaker notes, and presentation frameworks for both live and on-demand webinars.
• Partner with internal engineers and external practitioners to define the structure of webinars.
• Guarantee the accuracy and thoroughness of webinar materials.
• Expand content coverage to include Snowflake and BigQuery as the initiative progresses.
• Connect transferable concepts across different platforms while maintaining technical distinctions.
• Independently manage workstreams from research through to a publish-ready draft.
• Engage in collaborative review processes with subject-matter experts, contracted technical writers, and others.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in technical content creation.
• A portfolio that showcases expertise in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, or related fields.
• Proven ability to write for practitioners of Databricks and Snowflake, including data engineers, analytics engineers, platform engineers, or FinOps specialists.
• Practical knowledge of Databricks and Snowflake, including cluster configuration, job compute, and cost factors.
• Experience with ebooks and long-form guides, focusing on structure, pacing, and making complex material accessible without oversimplification.
• Capability to operate at a senior level by leading workstreams, establishing a research agenda, and proactively identifying accuracy issues.
• Strong editorial judgment.
• Strong preference for direct experience writing about BigQuery or other cloud data warehouse and lakehouse platforms.
• Strong preference for familiarity with FinOps concepts applied to data infrastructure, including cloud cost allocation, showback/chargeback, and spend optimization.
• Strong preference for experience in crafting webinar scripts or technical presentation materials.
• Strong preference for a background as a practitioner transitioned into technical writing.
