Senior Technical Agronomist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Oversee and implement agronomic protocols and field trials, which include tasks such as planting, irrigation, and crop protection.

• Act as the main point of contact for trial locations and proactively address any agronomic challenges that arise.

• Gather, document, and perform quality control on phenotypic and environmental data in accordance with Ohalo standards.

• Maintain data accuracy, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide thorough documentation.

• Enhance trial protocols, data collection techniques, and field operations to boost efficiency and quality.

• Partner with the Sales team to facilitate grower site visits and offer agronomic advice.

• Relay grower feedback regarding variety performance to internal teams.

• Deliver consistent updates on trial results, grower perspectives, and operational efficiencies to leadership.

• Travel to trial locations approximately 60% of the time, including both day trips and overnight stays.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science, or a related discipline.

• At least 10 years of experience in field-based agronomy, trial management, or applied crop research.

• Preference for candidates with experience in potatoes, though experience with small seeded vegetable crops will also be considered.

• Proficient understanding of field trial design, plot management, and best practices for data collection.

• Ability to work outdoors in diverse field conditions (e.g., insects, sun, rain).

• Strong organizational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail; familiarity with large data sets/databases is advantageous.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with growers, scientists, and internal teams.

• Experience in operational logistics or project management, including budget management, scheduling, and coordination with contract growers, is highly preferred.

• Proficient in using digital tools such as GIS, GPS, Microsoft Office Suite, and proprietary trial management systems.

• Comfortable utilizing AI tools like Claude, Gemini, etc.

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to trial sites as necessary.
