Senior Technical Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842, which includes classification, schedules for ROU assets and liabilities, modifications, remeasurements, and necessary disclosures.

• Facilitate the 409A valuation process by collaborating with valuation providers, preparing supporting documentation, and reviewing draft reports.

• Create and record stock-based compensation entries in compliance with ASC 718 while maintaining equity-related schedules.

• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and completion of close checklists.

• Draft technical accounting memos and prepare audit-ready documentation for complex transactions.

• Act as the main point of contact for external auditors regarding lease and equity accounting matters.

• Provide assistance with the preparation of US GAAP financial statements and related disclosures.

• Report directly to finance leadership based in the US.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years within US GAAP frameworks.

• Proven, hands-on experience with ASC 842; practical knowledge in implementation or ongoing compliance is essential, rather than theoretical understanding.

• Familiarity with 409A valuations and/or ASC 718 stock-based compensation accounting.

• Background in public accounting with a Big Four or a large regional firm, or experience within a US company or startup.

• Advanced proficiency in English (C1+).

• Strong skills in Excel.

• Experience using major ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks.

• Previous experience working remotely.

• Comfortable with remote collaboration tools and platforms like Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, Asana, or similar.

• Ideally, experience collaborating with US- or UK-based companies.

• Significant overlap with US business hours is preferred.

• Experience in supporting audits from start to finish is preferred.

• Previous experience in a startup or rapidly growing company is preferred.

• Availability to complete a mandatory video interview during the application process.
