This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Design and develop OpenBMC firmware for NVIDIA GPU server platforms, with a primary focus on Arm architecture.
• Initiate BMC firmware, conduct performance evaluations, and oversee the management features for NVIDIA server platforms.
• Create and assess code and design documentation.
• Evaluate QA test strategies and collaborate with colleagues on design and testability aspects.
• Create solutions addressing errors, statistics, and configurations involving CPUs, GPUs, DIMMs, SSDs, NICs, InfiniBand, PSUs, BMCs, FPGAs, and CPLDs.
• Design and implement performance-enhanced active-monitoring BMC solutions adhering to DMTF standards, including MCTP, Redfish, SPDM, and PLDM.
• Instrument code to ensure maximum coverage and write as well as automate unit tests for developed modules.
• Maintain comprehensive reports on unit test cases.
• Deliver software quality reports based on static analysis, code coverage, and CPU load assessments.
• Collaborate with the security team to ensure alignment of code with product security objectives.
• Work closely with hardware teams to influence hardware design and review architectural schematics.
• A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Over 8 years of professional experience.
• Expertise in BMC firmware development on x86 or ARM platforms, including communication with BMC-BIOS, thermal and power management, firmware updates, device monitoring, and firmware security.
• Practical experience in board bring-up with device drivers such as I2C/I3C, SPI, PCIe, SMBus, and mailbox, along with device trees for U-Boot and the Linux kernel.
• Experience in out-of-band (OOB) or in-band system management.
• Familiarity with IPMI, KCS, and DMTF standards such as PLDM, MCTP, and Redfish, along with PMBus and NVMe.
• Understanding of REST architecture, particularly JSON over HTTPS with OAuth.
• Proficient in C/C++, Bash, Python, and Go programming and scripting for Linux user-space and system applications.
• Strong skills in code review.
• Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals, distributions, package management, upgrade mechanisms, and the building and deployment of Linux images.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong work ethics and ability to work effectively in teams.
• Dedication to delivering high-quality work and completing assignments.
• A self-starter who is capable of devising innovative solutions to complex problems.
• Experience with industry standards or contributions to open-source projects is considered a plus.
• Specialized knowledge in system software and platform security for x86/ARM-based rack or blade server systems is an advantage.
