Senior Substation Physical Designer 2 – Grid

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a project team alongside engineers and other designers to develop high and extra high voltage substation designs.

• Create general arrangement drawings for substations.

• Develop plans for electrical equipment in substations.

• Produce section views and elevations for substations.

• Compile detailed bills of material for substations.

• Design lightning stroke shielding plans for substations.

• Create grounding plans for substations.

• Develop details for conduits, electrical connections, and grounding in substations.

• Prepare plans for below-grade conduit and raceways in substations.

• Create equipment, cable tray, lighting, and grounding plans and sections for control buildings.

• Interpret and integrate vendor information into design deliverables.

• Conduct walkdowns at client facilities.

• Adhere to client standards pertinent to the work.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 12 years of experience in substation physical design.

• An Associate’s Degree in Drafting, or a high school diploma with two or more years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.

• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

• Capable of visualizing components in 3D without computer assistance.

• Familiar with design techniques, tools, and principles necessary for producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

• Understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology, with the ability to connect various equipment to a technical design.

• No U.S. work authorization sponsorship is available.
