Senior Structural Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Prepare structural calculations and construction documents that adhere to quality standards.

• Design lateral and gravity systems in areas where you have technical expertise.

• Create sketches and drawings of unique details.

• Provide guidance for modeling and drafting processes.

• Ensure quality control for your own work.

• Present high-level options to the technical lead for areas that need direction.

• Develop and implement activities outlined in the sprint plan.

• Formulate and communicate the approach plan to the project manager.

• Document tasks and estimate the hours needed for deliverables.

• Identify high-value, low-risk items to facilitate project progress.

• Communicate any roadblocks and align plans with the project team.

• Oversee construction administration tasks and report back to the technical lead.

• Maintain and update the construction administration log regularly.

• Draft responses to RFIs for approval by the technical lead.

• Review shop drawings and present them to the technical lead for feedback.

• Raise concerns regarding potential scope creep.

• Conduct site visits as necessary.

• Coordinate with clients through meetings, phone calls, and emails.

• Collaborate with technical staff on drawing development.

• Identify issues with consultants and propose solutions.

• Provide advice on structural types and system selections.

• Keep the project team updated on progress.

• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.

• Pursue ongoing education opportunities.

• Participate in material groups to enhance standards and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field is required.

• A Professional Engineering (PE) license is mandatory.

• Over 5 years of experience in the structural design of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood frame structures.

• Increasing proficiency in materials, market conditions, and project types.

• Capability to prepare structural calculations and construction documents that meet quality standards.

• Ability to design lateral and gravity systems effectively.

• Skill in providing modeling and drafting direction.

• Competence in developing and executing sprint plan activities.

• Experience managing construction administration tasks.

• Proficiency in conducting site visits.

• Ability to independently manage client coordination and communication.

• A Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management is preferred.

• Willingness to travel 10–15% of the time.
