Senior Structural Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Conceptualize and create aircraft structural systems from initial design through to release on an active Special Missions program.

• Take ownership of 3D design, systems integration, and weight and balance considerations for customized aircraft systems utilizing Siemens NX.

• Develop and oversee 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings in compliance with airworthiness standards.

• Conduct weight and balance analyses to inform component sizing and system layout choices.

• Research and select components and materials based on structural integrity, regulatory compliance, and customer specifications.

• Design metallic and composite structural components, including tanks, mounting structures, and integrated systems.

• Collaborate with lead engineers, stress analysts, certification teams, and systems groups to ensure design objectives are achieved.

• Manage the configuration and release of parts and assemblies through PLM tools (Teamcenter or equivalent).

• Prepare engineering documentation and design presentations for both internal and client evaluations.

• Work collaboratively across all necessary engineering disciplines to support program milestones.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.

• Over 7 years of structural design experience within aerospace programs.

• Proficient Siemens NX user with extensive experience in 3D modeling and assembly design.

• Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.

• Experience in designing structural aircraft systems or installations from inception to completion.

• Familiarity with PLM tools such as Teamcenter or similar platforms.

• Ability to work independently and manage a design package with minimal supervision.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
