Senior Staff Software Engineer – SAP Connectors

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance ABAP components, such as function modules, classes, CDS views, and enhancements.

• Take ownership of and modernize internal SAP test environments for existing connectors and upcoming public cloud/BTP integrations.

• Architect outbound interfaces utilizing OData, standard and generic DataSources, ODP/ODQ delta frameworks, and RFC connections.

• Enhance throughput and reliability across ECC and S/4HANA landscapes by addressing extraction bottlenecks and delta synchronization challenges.

• Examine SAP HANA and traditional database structures to boost data pipeline performance.

• Collaborate with engineering, support, and customers to convert business requirements into technical architectures.

• Resolve connectivity, authorization, and configuration issues within customer SAP environments.

• Set up technical design standards, interface specifications, and best-practice documentation.

• Assess and incorporate SAP Datasphere, BTP, and other emerging SAP technologies.

• Act as the SAP expert within a team of Java developers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of practical SAP development experience.

• Proficient in classic and modern ABAP, ABAP OO, and ABAP for HANA.

• Extensive knowledge of SAP outbound interfacing.

• Expertise in OData v2 and v4 service design, SEGW, performance, and security.

• Familiarity with SAP extractors, standard and generic DataSources, delta handling, ODP/ODQ, and CDS-based extraction.

• Understanding of RFC function modules, BAPIs, destinations, and tRFC/qRFC.

• Strong working knowledge of SAP ECC and S/4HANA, including data models and extraction options.

• Competent in SQL, query performance and tuning, SAP HANA, and relational database concepts.

• Comprehension of SAP data models and key modules such as FI/CO, MM, and SD.

• Experience with SAP authorizations and technical user/role setup for interfaces.

• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.

• Proficiency in English.

• Experience in code reviews, design, troubleshooting, and testing.

• Ability to utilize conversational AI systems like Claude, ChatGPT, and internal chatbots to assist in SDLC artifacts.

• Bonus: familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Java development; data integration/ELT tools; data warehousing; SLT, SAP Datasphere, BW, and SAP BTP.
