Senior Staff Software Engineer, Mobile

📋 Description

• Define and take ownership of the long-term technical vision for ServiceTitan's iOS platform by establishing architectural principles, engineering standards, and platform frameworks that are adopted across the company, setting the benchmark for scalable mobile development.

• Lead the design of cutting-edge mobile frameworks and foundational systems that support tens of thousands of field technicians daily, with a steadfast focus on platform longevity, extensibility, and resilience.

• Collaborate with executives and VPs across product, design, data, and backend to shape comprehensive roadmaps and ensure that iOS capabilities effectively drive business outcomes.

• Act as the primary technical authority for iOS throughout the organization, ensuring alignment among various engineering teams, resolving complex cross-functional ambiguities, and making critical architectural decisions.

• Identify and promote strategic technical investments by evaluating emerging Apple frameworks, platform capabilities, and industry trends to maintain ServiceTitan's competitive edge in mobile.

• Architect sophisticated, scalable integrations with backend services through GraphQL, establishing data access patterns and API design principles that align with the platform's growth.

• Advocate for and advance ServiceTitan's implementation of The Composable Architecture (TCA), fostering shared state management, performance optimization, and modular design patterns within the iOS engineering community.

• Define the strategy for AI-assisted development in iOS engineering, outlining the integration of tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Windsurf into engineering workflows to enhance developer productivity at scale.

• Mentor and inspire the next generation of staff and senior engineers, serving as a technical role model, thought partner, and mentor within the iOS organization and beyond.

• Establish and uphold high engineering standards, including code quality, performance metrics, testing philosophies, and architectural integrity, influencing what excellence looks like for all of iOS engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience at scale.

• Over 12 years of mobile application development experience, with deep expertise in iOS and a proven track record at senior engineering levels.

• Expert-level proficiency in Swift, with a deep understanding of language internals, performance considerations, and idiomatic design.

• A distinguished record of defining and delivering architecture for large-scale mobile platforms, directing multiple teams, and maintaining platform health over extended periods.

• Strong hands-on experience with GraphQL, capable of defining scalable data access patterns across a complex mobile platform.

• Profound knowledge of TCA, including advanced shared state patterns, performance tuning, and large-scale modular decomposition.

• Exceptional ability to lead without formal authority, shaping the technical trajectory of the organization through credibility, clarity, and sound engineering judgment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated by the ability to convey complex technical trade-offs to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
