β’ Establish the long-term technical vision and architecture for backend systems that drive experimentation, personalization, analytics, and conversion optimization.
β’ Design and enhance high-throughput distributed systems and APIs that manage substantial volumes of visitor and event data.
β’ Lead essential platform investments and the supporting data infrastructure.
β’ Implement statistical and AI/ML capabilities into dependable, real-time backend infrastructure.
β’ Oversee intricate, multi-team, multi-quarter initiatives from defining the problem to implementation, launch, and operational management.
β’ Shape engineering roadmaps and technical strategies across the Convert pillar and partner pillars.
β’ Elevate engineering standards through architecture reviews, observability, operational excellence, systems, and tools.
β’ Mentor and develop staff and senior engineers.
β’ Keep abreast of trends in distributed systems, experimentation platforms, real-time data, and AI/ML infrastructure.
β’ Convert product vision into specific technical challenges and execution strategies.
β’ Report directly to the Director of Engineering.
β’ Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
β’ A minimum of 12 years in software engineering.
β’ Extensive experience in architecting and operating backend and distributed systems at a large scale.
β’ Strong technical foundation in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
β’ Profound knowledge of modern frameworks, distributed systems patterns, and large-scale system design.
β’ Proven experience in designing, building, and managing high-throughput, data-intensive distributed systems in production environments.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of scalability, fault tolerance, consistency trade-offs, observability, and performance optimization.
β’ Demonstrated technical leadership in ambiguous, cross-pillar initiatives.
β’ Capability to collaborate with product, design, data science, and ML stakeholders.
β’ Excellent judgment and effective communication skills with both technical and executive audiences.
β’ Proactive approach to AI and familiarity with emerging technologies.
