Senior Staff Software Developer, Growth Engineering

📋 Description

• Collaborate with engineering teams to jointly deliver intricate projects related to platform modernization, product development, and new product initiatives.

• Modify delivery methodologies to emphasize speed, scalability, or long-term sustainability.

• Employ AI-native development techniques to create automation, validation, and engineering tools.

• Implement code review and pre-production quality assurance practices.

• Guide the technical direction for extensive, cross-team projects.

• Design systems that are flexible, scalable, and maintainable.

• Predict constraints and adapt architecture proactively before issues escalate.

• Identify and address performance, reliability, and architectural bottlenecks.

• Propel early-stage exploration through prototyping and construction.

• Develop infrastructure that integrates AI into engineering processes.

• Create tools and patterns that minimize manual tasks through automation and intelligent support.

• Establish guardrails for safe and dependable AI-assisted development.

• Define system behavior using specifications derived from code, tests, logs, and expert insights.

• Foster alignment across teams and influence key technical decisions.

• Produce runbooks, decision logs, and tests for handoff and ongoing development.

• Share contextual information across various product domains.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in developing and scaling enterprise software systems.

• Proven experience in leading technical strategy and architecture across multiple teams.

• Hands-on experience with agentic AI development, including delivering tangible work with AI as a main development partner.

• Experience in spearheading high-impact initiatives across several teams.

• Proven track record of enhancing engineering quality through methodologies such as TDD, BDD, load testing, stress testing, chaos testing, invariant testing, mutation testing, or similar practices.

• Strong systems thinking and judgment, with an understanding of second-order effects.

• Demonstrated expertise in at least two delivery modes: platform modernization, iterative product development, and ambitious greenfield projects.

• Ability to act as a force multiplier for fellow engineers.

• Depth of knowledge in a specific area that significantly enhances system design or developer experience.

• Proven experience functioning at a Staff+ level across various teams or domains.

• Strong foundation in distributed systems and platform architecture.

• Experience in deriving behavioral specifications from existing systems through code, tests, logs, and expert insights.

• Capability to deliver production-quality results in a small, time-constrained team environment.

• Excellent written communication skills and a practice of creating valuable, long-lasting artifacts.
