This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Create and execute secure, scalable, multi-tenant database frameworks for healthcare SaaS solutions.
• Design data models and storage methods for sensitive healthcare information (PHI, PII/PPI).
• Ensure adherence to HIPAA, HITECH, GDPR, and other applicable regulations.
• Implement data encryption (both at rest and in transit), masking, and access control measures.
• Design systems for high availability, disaster recovery, and audit capabilities.
• Establish and enforce data governance, retention, and audit logging protocols.
• Enhance database performance for extensive healthcare datasets and real-time access.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and engineering teams to fulfill regulatory standards.
• Lead data migration and integration efforts with EHR/EMR systems and external healthcare platforms.
• Adhere to best practices for secure CI/CD pipelines involving database modifications.
• Monitor systems for data integrity, potential breaches, and unusual access patterns.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in enterprise technology, architecture, and systems management.
• At least 7 years of experience in database architecture, ideally within SaaS settings.
• Extensive experience with data lake architectures (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Data Lake, Google Cloud Storage).
• Proven track record in designing or overseeing data farms/distributed data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Databricks ecosystems).
• Practical experience managing sensitive data (PHI, PII/PPI) in regulated environments.
• In-depth knowledge of HIPAA compliance, data privacy, and security frameworks.
• Proficient in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and non-relational systems such as Cosmos DB and MongoDB.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), particularly healthcare-compliant services.
• Expertise in data encryption, key management, and role-based access control (RBAC).
