This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Oversee production databases hosted on AWS RDS, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL Server.

• Design and uphold high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) architectures, including replication, Multi-AZ setups, read replicas, failover strategies, and backups.

• Enhance performance through query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plans, and parameter groups.

• Conduct capacity planning, sizing, and cost-efficiency evaluations across the database environment.

• Safeguard schema modifications and migrations within production settings.

• Monitor database health utilizing tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch, while optimizing alert systems.

• Lead incident management efforts during database outages, performance challenges, and data integrity incidents.

• Apply and maintain security measures, including encryption, access management, auditing, and secrets rotation.

• Collaborate with developers on data modeling, query assessments, and access methodologies.

• Automate routine tasks such as backups, patching, and provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) techniques.

• Create and maintain documentation for standards, runbooks, and recovery protocols.

• Take part in the on-call support rotation.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a DBA or in a database-centric engineering role within production environments.

• Strong practical knowledge of AWS RDS, with a preference for experience in Aurora.

• Comprehensive expertise in at least two of the following: MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL Server.

• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, execution plans, stored procedures, and window functions.

• Solid grasp of replication, backup processes, point-in-time recovery, and high availability/disaster recovery frameworks.

• Familiarity with database security measures, including IAM, encryption (KMS), TLS, and auditing practices.

• Experience in schema design and migration within high-availability scenarios.

• Familiarity with ClickHouse.

• Proficient in scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.

• Understanding of Linux fundamentals and basic networking concepts.
