Principal Database Administrator, DBA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement strategies for high availability and disaster recovery.

• Establish and carry out the scalability roadmap.

• Conduct in-depth query optimization.

• Create and oversee scalable inference and connection pooling strategies.

• Design the monitoring framework and establish SLIs/SLOs for database health.

• Adopt banking-grade security protocols.

• Collaborate with product teams to ensure database schema modifications accommodate a high-load setting.

• Elevate the standards for the DBA function through mentoring and practical implementation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in high-load, production settings (preferably in Fintech or critical systems).

• Advanced expertise in index design (B-tree, GIN, GiST, BRIN), partitioning, and vacuum tuning.

• Demonstrated experience in designing streaming replication, clustering, and automated backup validation.

• Practical experience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL (specifically GCP) and Linux systems administration.

• Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD workflows (GitLab, ArgoCD).

• Proficient in complex queries, stored procedures, and functions.

• Experienced in developing monitoring and alerting systems for databases (Prometheus/Grafana).

• Fluent in English.
