Senior Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain essential data pipelines and infrastructure for analytics, experimentation, machine learning, AI fine-tuning, and agent-based applications.

• Take ownership of data architecture decisions concerning ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving layers.

• Establish and uphold standards for data quality, observability, reliability, SLA, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.

• Collaborate with analytics, data science, and product engineering teams to convert data requirements into reusable models and pipelines.

• Spearhead technical initiatives and advocate for data engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, documentation, and data contracts.

• Ensure adherence to privacy, security, and regulatory guidelines for sensitive mental health and healthcare data.

• Mentor and guide data engineers through technical advice and design feedback.

• Assist with the evolving needs of the platform and support ad-hoc projects.

• Assume responsibility for critical pipelines or platform components, enhancing their reliability and clarity.

• Shape platform direction and elevate engineering standards throughout the data organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or backend engineering roles.

• Strong expertise in SQL.

• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, with Python being highly preferred.

• Practical experience in constructing and maintaining production data pipelines at scale.

• Familiarity with contemporary data platforms, including cloud data warehouses, orchestration tools, and transformation frameworks.

• Solid understanding of data modeling, pipeline reliability, and the trade-offs of system design.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions and convert business needs into effective technical solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Awareness of modern AI productivity tools such as Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, or GitHub Copilot is expected and considered essential.
