Senior Staff Backend Software Engineer – Recommendations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical and architectural vision for large-scale recommendation systems, ensuring ultra-low latency, high availability, and resilience.

• Act as a technical authority, elevating the standard of software engineering excellence throughout the organization.

• Advance essential microservices in Kotlin, implementing best practices for code design, concurrency, and testing.

• Facilitate intricate technical discussions and synchronize architectural decisions with product managers, data teams, and business stakeholders.

• Oversee and enhance the performance of high-throughput distributed systems, proactively identifying bottlenecks before they affect the buyer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Senior Staff Engineer focused on microservices architectures and large-scale distributed systems.

• Significant hands-on experience with Kotlin (and/or modern Java).

• Familiarity with Machine Learning, including an understanding of the model lifecycle (training, inference, feature stores, prediction latency) to effectively collaborate with Data Scientists.

• Experience with AWS, encompassing CI/CD best practices, observability, and a DevOps culture.

• Outstanding communication and influencing abilities, capable of translating technical complexities for varied audiences and guiding team strategy.

• Preferred: Previous experience in Search, Recommendations, Personalization, or E-commerce teams.
