Senior Staff Accountant, Accounting and Reporting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Assess new accounting standards and conduct accounting research on emerging business transactions to identify the appropriate accounting treatment.

• Engage in the monthly financial statement closing process by posting journal entries and performing comprehensive analyses of financial statements to pinpoint trends and variances.

• Analyze financial risks and develop controls to mitigate them.

• Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Treasury, and Finance, to offer accounting expertise on specific initiatives.

• Carry out internal and external reporting responsibilities on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Support external auditors with financial statement and bank auditor inquiries.

• Lead or engage in specialized accounting projects, such as system implementations, process enhancements, and global accounting initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, or equivalent professional experience is required.

• A CPA certification is mandatory.

• A minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience or 4 years in public accounting is required.

• Experience in designing and implementing internal controls and risk mitigation strategies; familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley is preferred.

• Strong reasoning and critical thinking abilities.

• High attention to detail and accuracy is essential.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.

• Proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Experience handling large data sets with advanced Excel capabilities.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced work environment.
