This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Manage daily operations of production systems, including on-call duties, incident resolution, postmortems, and follow-up activities.

• Establish and enhance SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets, assisting product teams in adhering to these metrics.

• Improve observability across metrics, logs, traces, and alerting systems.

• Deploy cloud resources and Kubernetes workloads via code in a GitOps workflow.

• Oversee PostgreSQL performance through tuning, schema and migration reviews, online migrations for large tables, high availability/disaster recovery, and change data capture pipelines.

• Guide engineers in reliability and database principles through code reviews, design discussions, and collaborative programming.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, Platform/Infrastructure, or backend engineering with significant ownership of production operations.

• Practical experience in managing production services on Kubernetes.

• Proficiency in deploying infrastructure as code within a GitOps framework.

• Comprehensive knowledge of PostgreSQL in production settings, including query plans, pg_stat_*, indexing strategies, schema considerations, and conducting safe online migrations on complex tables.

• Fundamental understanding of cloud networking, including VPCs, routing, L4/L7 load balancing, DNS, and TLS.

• Ability to troubleshoot cross-service connectivity issues.

• Familiarity with a contemporary observability stack.

• Proficient with Linux at an operational level.

• Experience with incident management, structured debugging, and conducting postmortems.

• At least a working knowledge of Go or Python.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• A genuine passion for databases and a desire to enhance PostgreSQL/DBA expertise.
