Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Manage SQL Server, SQL Clusters, and standalone SQL databases both on-premises and in the cloud.

• Take charge of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) design, conduct failover testing, and perform disaster recovery drills.

• Organize and oversee patching, installations, and server maintenance activities.

• Optimize performance through tuning of queries, indexes, and server configurations.

• Provide support for MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MS Access databases.

• Diagnose and resolve database and application issues, including those related to SharePoint integrations.

• Manage requests for change (RFCs) and ServiceNow tickets within established service level agreements (SLAs).

• Monitor system capacity and health using Idera and SolarWinds tools.

• Mentor mid-level SQL Database Administrators and compile weekly activity reports.

• Lead the administration of GPO's SQL Server and SQL Cluster environment, supporting various agency business units.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in SQL Server database administration.

• Extensive knowledge in SQL Clustering, Always On/HA, and disaster recovery practices.

• Proficient in T-SQL and SQL scripting.

• Familiarity with Oracle, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MS Access.

• Capable of working independently and communicating effectively across different teams.

• Preferred: Microsoft certification such as Azure Database Administrator Associate or previous MCSE/MCSA Data.

• Preferred: Background in federal or large enterprise support.

• Must be available to work 8 hours per day between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM ET.

• Willingness to perform scheduled after-hours work for patching and reboots.
