MySQL Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and manage high-availability and high-performance MySQL databases.

• Provide support for production databases across international data centers.

• Set up, monitor, and resolve issues related to MySQL replication and clustering.

• Generate database reports and queries for internal stakeholders.

• Conduct performance optimization, backup and recovery procedures, and proactive monitoring.

• Diagnose complex database problems to ensure system uptime.

• Automate database operations using scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or Bash.

• Maintain documentation for database designs, processes, and operational guidelines.

• Adhere to change management protocols in production settings.

• Collaborate closely with Operations and Development teams to facilitate scalable databases and cloud modernization initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of overall professional experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to hands-on MySQL administration.

• Familiarity with GCP (preferred) or AWS cloud database technologies.

• In-depth understanding of MySQL implementation, performance tuning, and master-master replication.

• Proficient in MySQL administration tools and in monitoring performance metrics such as IO, CPU, and queries.

• Experience in writing SQL queries for reporting and analytics purposes.

• Strong knowledge of Linux as it pertains to database administration.

• Scripting capabilities in Python (preferred), Shell, or Bash.

• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities.

• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.

• Exposure to SQL Server administration.

• Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Google BigQuery).

• Knowledge of automation tools for database provisioning and monitoring.
