Senior Specialist, Employee Relations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Oversee and resolve intricate employee exit processes from start to finish with minimal oversight across various international jurisdictions, emphasizing an exceptional offboarding experience for Remote's clients and employees.

• Deliver reliable and knowledgeable guidance on key jurisdictions while managing client inquiries related to numerous HR topics, including but not limited to termination, resignation, transfer procedures, employment contracts, and redundancy processes, ensuring adherence to legal standards and best practices.

• Independently conduct and facilitate meetings with clients and external employees, including but not limited to workforce reduction consultation sessions, administrative hearings, negotiations during separations and settlements, providing direction on terminations, and communicating termination outcomes.

• Influence and negotiate favorable results in complex terminations, adeptly managing and directing various stakeholders with conflicting interests through a challenging, involved, and sometimes protracted process.

• Coordinate and liaise with diverse internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance in offboarding activities and audits, including but not limited to payroll, legal counsel, government entities, and trade unions.

• Accurately draft, customize, and manage all termination and supplementary documents with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring employee records are upheld in strict accordance with privacy and confidentiality regulations.

• Execute offboarding on Remote's internal HRIS platform, collaborating with various internal departments, such as Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, Time and Attendance, among others, to ensure all aspects of the employee exit are processed accurately and promptly.

• Serve as the initial point of informal escalation as a trusted colleague with sound judgment, providing expertise, mentoring, and guidance to junior team members.

• Offer comprehensive insights into Remote's Employee Relations resources, assisting clients in navigating intricate workplace scenarios.

• Perform detailed preliminary evaluations of workplace issues, identifying crucial facts, relevant local regulations, and potential solutions.

• Act as a reliable resource for internal and external stakeholders regarding employee relations matters, ensuring appropriate management of intricate cases.

• Advise clients on progressive disciplinary methods, documentation requirements, and best practices for addressing challenging situations.

• Monitor and track ongoing employee relations cases, ensuring timely follow-ups and appropriate collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

• Be recognized as the subject-matter expert, proactively addressing internal and external inquiries regarding all offboarding and first-level employee relations matters in collaboration with Lifecycle's internal stakeholders.

• Identify improvement opportunities, advocate for, and drive enhancements, automation, product development, and overall customer and employee experiences through the offboarding and employee relations processes.

• Establish methods, procedures, and standards for new assignments, exercising discretion in selecting methods, assessing, and adapting intricate techniques and evaluation criteria to achieve results while considering broader Lifecycle and Remote requirements.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner, possessing generalist HR competencies and exposure throughout the employee lifecycle.

• Tertiary qualifications in HR, labor relations, or paralegal studies are considered advantageous.

• Proven experience in independently managing voluntary and involuntary exits with care, sensitivity, and legal compliance, while providing comprehensive HR guidance across employment laws and regulations in EMEA, APAC, and AMER.

• Strong understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline strategies, and workplace investigation fundamentals.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including Legal, Payroll, and Time and Attendance teams.

• Capacity to interpret and apply industrial instruments, analyze complex HR issues, conduct research, translate findings into practical resources, and communicate actionable solutions in ambiguous environments.

• Outstanding communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills, with the capability to independently steer difficult conversations toward positive resolutions while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

• Proficient in written and spoken English at a business level, with additional languages viewed favorably.

• Enthusiasm for innovation and process optimization, consistently identifying opportunities for automation and promoting best practices.

• Strong operational efficiency, recognizing the significance of meticulous record-keeping and data integrity.

• Tech-savvy, with proficiency in Notion, Slack, GSuite, and Zendesk, and the ability to collaborate asynchronously and adapt to evolving systems.

• Capable of working independently and cohesively in a fast-paced, asynchronous, remote, and international environment while managing multiple priorities. Willingness to work flexible hours as required.

• Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability, coupled with the ability to inspire others.
