• Integrate with the client's team throughout the engagement, working directly within their environment rather than at a distance.
• Collaborate with the individuals whose work the system aims to improve before initiating any design, ensuring the architecture is rooted in actual workflows.
• Develop clean, production-quality Python code for AI integrations, backend services, and RESTful APIs (Flask, Django, or FastAPI).
• Design, construct, and enhance RAG systems and agentic AI solutions that are operational, rather than merely demonstrations or notebooks.
• Make decisions regarding system design and architecture throughout the engagement, including choices between microservices and monoliths, synchronous versus event-driven approaches, and SQL versus NoSQL databases.
• Take charge of the technical direction for the engagement from discovery to delivery.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for the client: present architectural designs, justify trade-offs, and challenge scope discrepancies related to timelines or budgets.
• Assist with presales activities as needed, including discovery calls, technical proposals, scoping, and client-facing demonstrations.
• Lead architecture reviews, create technical design documents, and contribute to best practices within the Python community.
• Share insights gained back into Provectus's blueprint library, ensuring the next engagement starts from an informed position.
• Mentor engineers, facilitate code reviews, and disseminate knowledge throughout the team.
• Over 7 years of experience building and maintaining production systems; hands-on production expertise is essential; candidates with only demo or proof-of-concept backgrounds will not be considered.
• Proven experience with RAG systems and LLM-based agentic workflows that are currently operational, not just prototypes.
• Experience in backend development using Flask, Django REST, or FastAPI.
• Recent practical experience with AWS (including SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda, ECS, S3, SQS, ECR, or similar); GCP experience will also be considered.
• Familiarity with LLM APIs (such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or AWS Bedrock).
• Strong proficiency in Python, including OOP, design patterns, clean architecture, and performance optimization.
• Proven ability to make and advocate for system design and architectural trade-off decisions.
• Comfortable engaging directly with client stakeholders, without a project manager mediating the conversation.
• A genuine eagerness to spend time with the individuals performing the job prior to designing a system intended to change it, along with a willingness to start with an intentionally underspecified engagement.
• Strong testing practices, including pytest, mocking, and integration testing for AI systems.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of LLM evaluation methods and quality assurance practices.
• Experience with deploying and maintaining AI/ML models in live production environments.
• Currently utilizing AI-assisted development tools in your daily workflow (such as Claude Code, Copilot, or similar).
• Proactive and self-driven; you take ownership of outcomes from start to finish and identify issues before they are presented to you.
• Proficient in English at a B2 level or higher, comfortable collaborating with distributed, multicultural teams.
• Complete ownership of production engagements, rather than merely a review and handoff role.
• Access to Provectus's blueprint library, developed from every project we have completed.
• Internal training programs (including Leadership, Public Speaking, and more) with full support for AWS and other professional certifications.
• Career advancement opportunities: a defined path towards Senior Architect or higher; we are committed to developing our engineers.
• Access to the latest AI tools and premium subscriptions.
• Long-term B2B collaboration.
• Remote-first work environment within Europe, with flexible working hours.
• Private medical insurance or a budget for personal medical needs.
• Paid sick leave, vacation, and public holidays.
• Provision of equipment and all necessary technology for a comfortable and productive work experience.
