Senior Software Engineer, Web Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Finland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the technical strategy and architecture for the Unity Web platform.

• Tackle complex, multi-dimensional runtime issues through thorough root cause analysis and ensure solutions meet developer requirements.

• Investigate, design, and implement optimizations such as code stripping, progressive asset loading, and multi-threading.

• Prioritize and manage an independent portfolio of platform-related tasks in alignment with the manager.

• Serve as the primary support contact for Unity teams and partners needing functionalities from the core Web platform.

• Guide engineers within the team and establish high standards for code quality.

• Interpret technical trade-offs and present clear, concise recommendations to Unity leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Expertise in C++ for low-level, performance-critical code.

• Significant development background with WebAssembly, utilizing Emscripten and/or LLVM.

• Demonstrated experience in taking ownership of platform or runtime architecture and validating it against actual customer requirements.

• Capacity to perform in-depth root cause analysis on intricate, multi-dimensional issues.

• Ability to work autonomously while prioritizing tasks in line with long-term platform objectives.

• Proficient in written and verbal communication, simplifying complex technical details for teams outside your own.

• Proven history of mentoring engineers and elevating the technical standards within a team.

• Adequate proficiency in English for professional verbal and written communication.

• Experience with the inner workings of a browser engine.

• In-depth knowledge of rendering, physics, or audio in a real-time 3D engine.

• Familiarity with compression techniques and code size optimization at scale.
