Senior Software Engineer – Virtual Appraisals

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee infrastructure enhancements and modernization initiatives, including the transition of Snapsheet's Ruby on Rails applications to the latest supported versions.

• Detect and address technical debt, enhancing system stability, performance, and long-term maintainability.

• Participate in technical design processes and offer suggestions for improvements and feedback.

• Operate within an agile framework, engaging in weekly stand-ups, retrospectives, and other related activities.

• Proactively assess project scopes, raise issues, and propose alternative solutions.

• Collaborate with fellow engineers, product management, and design teams to tackle complex challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in full-stack web development.

• Proficiency with relational databases, schema design, and crafting efficient SQL queries.

• Experience with AWS infrastructure.

• Knowledge of scalability challenges and server-side code performance.

• Previous experience with Ruby on Rails is essential.

• Prior experience with infrastructure upgrades is a plus.

• A strong willingness to learn and collaborate within a team environment.

• A commitment to quality and a passion for technology and innovative solution creation.

• Capability to manage tasks and contribute to multiple initiatives during a sprint.
