Senior Software Engineer – Tools & Enablement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and oversee development environments and automated CI/CD pipelines for safety-critical embedded software.

• Incorporate software development and verification processes into GitLab-based pipelines that encompass the entire software lifecycle.

• Create and sustain Docker containers, virtualized environments, and reusable development infrastructures.

• Develop automation scripts, test harnesses, and internal engineering tools to enhance efficiency and minimize manual tasks.

• Provide support for embedded software development across boot, application, and RTOS environments, including VxWorks and LynxOS.

• Construct and maintain tools that facilitate DO-178C development, verification, traceability, and release processes.

• Integrate and support tools for static analysis, code coverage, requirements verification, and timing analysis.

• Design, troubleshoot, and document test environments and automated testing solutions for product-line development.

• Resolve issues related to development environments, pipelines, embedded targets, and avionics networking.

• Standardize development tools, test harnesses, workflows, and engineering processes across various teams.

• Author documentation, work instructions, and training materials for engineering teams utilizing new tools, pipelines, and environments.

• Identify potential enhancements to engineering productivity through automation, scripting, and emerging technologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field with over 5 years of pertinent experience.

• Proven experience in developing and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, or Bamboo.

• Familiarity with containerized or virtualized development environments, particularly Docker.

• Strong background in automation and scripting with Python, Bash, or a comparable scripting language.

• Experience in developing engineering tools, test automation, or reusable development infrastructure.

• Practical knowledge of embedded software development environments, including build, integration, testing, and release processes.

• Experience in supporting software development in safety-critical or highly regulated settings.

• Understanding of DO-178C software lifecycle processes, including traceability, verification, and configuration management requirements.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities related to software, tooling, pipelines, and development environments.

• Capacity to collaborate effectively with software, systems, verification, and hardware teams.

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

• Preferred: DO-178C DAL A, DO-330 tool qualification, experience with VxWorks or LynxOS, GitLab CertDevOps pipelines, avionics networking protocols, static analysis, code coverage, requirements verification, timing-analysis tools, standardized test harnesses, technical documentation, AI-enabled tools, and aerospace certification processes.
