Senior Software Engineer – TERPS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance the capabilities, services, and microservices of TERPS software.

• Create and sustain functionality for web-based applications, APIs, database interfaces, and integrations.

• Construct software that ingests, processes, validates, and exchanges intricate aeronautical and geospatial data.

• Facilitate the integration of DAFIF, DVOF, DTED, SRTM, TanDEM-X, and AIXM data sources.

• Develop software that interacts with relational and spatial databases, including PostgreSQL/PostGIS.

• Create software for AWS and/or OpenShift cloud-hosted environments.

• Engage in Agile development through two-week sprints and a defined release cycle.

• Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Participate in code reviews, conduct code quality assessments, troubleshoot, resolve defects, and maintain software.

• Support GitLab source control and automated CI/CD pipelines.

• Address software vulnerabilities and security findings while adhering to secure software development practices.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical, deployment, release, interface, and test documentation.

• Collaborate with Software Architects, Software Engineers, Subject Matter Experts, Government Product Owners, and integration teams.

• Offer technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced software engineers as needed.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 7 years of experience with a Master’s degree in a related field.

• Proven experience in developing and maintaining complex software applications.

• Strong background in modern programming languages, frameworks, APIs, and database technologies.

• Experience in developing microservices and/or service-oriented applications.

• Familiarity with relational databases and database integration.

• Experience in cloud-based application development and/or containerized application environments.

• Proficient with Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and contemporary software development practices.

• Skilled in troubleshooting, debugging, testing, and maintaining production software.

• Experience working in Agile software development teams.

• Ability to independently resolve complex technical issues and contribute to software design decisions.

• Preferred: Experience with AWS, OpenShift, Kubernetes, containers, or similar cloud technologies.

• Preferred: Knowledge of PostgreSQL/PostGIS and geospatial applications.

• Preferred: Background in aeronautical, aviation, GIS, GEOINT, terrain, or geospatial datasets.

• Preferred: Familiarity with DAFIF, DVOF, DTED, SRTM, TanDEM-X, AIXM, or comparable data formats.

• Preferred: Experience in Federal Government and/or DoD software programs.

• Preferred: Knowledge of RMF, A&A, DevSecOps, secure coding practices, and software vulnerability remediation.

• Security+ Certification is preferred.

• No security clearance is required; candidates must meet applicable HSPD-12/Tier 1 requirements for CUI access.
