This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take ownership of and enhance the simulation tools.
• Develop and expand the simulation environment, incorporating production autonomy-stack integration, utilized interfaces, vehicle and actor models, as well as environmental and operational conditions.
• Sustain and refine integration as the autonomy stack progresses, including efforts to improve simulation fidelity.
• Construct and manage cloud-based scenario execution, featuring orchestration, parallel processing, result aggregation, artifact capture, and runtime cost modeling.
• Create and expand the evaluation layer with accurate assertions and pass/fail criteria for release gating.
• Develop failure-triage tools, encompassing failure clustering, individual failure recordings, and dashboards.
• Enhance scenario-authoring tools for the V&V team across both backend and frontend.
• Uphold the foundational aspects of simulation, ensuring determinism, reproducibility, pipeline performance, and coverage across various maps and sites.
• Support test quality through deterministic, reproducible testing and verification processes, ensuring that each gate can fail.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
• Proficient in Python with a proven history of producing maintainable code within a shared codebase.
• Practical simulation experience with autonomous systems.
• Familiarity with simulation platforms such as CARLA, Applied Intuition, Foretellix, NVIDIA Omniverse, IsaacSim, Gazebo, or proprietary simulators.
• Working knowledge of simulation, modeling, and validation methodologies.
• Experience with Docker and Linux.
• Understanding of distributed-systems fundamentals.
• Experience with GPU-based simulation environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and cloud execution methodologies.
• Experience integrating automated testing workflows into CI for comprehensive end-to-end validation coverage.
• Ability to analyze simulation output and telemetry to pinpoint performance bottlenecks and failure modes.
• Skills in debugging and profiling distributed, GPU-bound systems.
• Preferred: A Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
• Preferred: Experience with safety-critical systems in autonomous driving, aerospace, or robotics.
• Preferred: Familiarity with autonomous vehicle software stacks such as ROS/ROS2.
• Preferred: Knowledge of cloud-based simulation infrastructure and large-scale distributed test execution.
• Preferred: Expertise in sensor modeling, environment generation, or perception ground-truth pipelines.
• Preferred: Experience with automated testing, continuous integration, and data-driven validation.
• Preferred: Knowledge of log/bag re-simulation using recorded real-world data.
• Preferred: Experience in test-signal quality work, including flake reduction, determinism debugging, and golden-output comparisons.
• Preferred: Exposure to ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), UL4600, or ISO 13849.
