This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +5 more states.
• Design, develop, and lead enhancements to the sandboxes product, focusing on agent integration, tool permissions, and workflows for developers.
• Analyze and address issues related to correctness, performance, and stability within the agent integration layer for macOS, Windows, and Linux platforms.
• Enhance the reliability and performance of sandbox creation, session management, and teardown processes for AI agent workloads.
• Collaborate with colleagues, Product teams, and adjacent departments to advance the architecture.
• Mentor engineers and uphold high standards during design and code reviews.
• Engage with the open-source and agentic development communities concerning sandboxing, MCP, and related ecosystems.
• Participate in on-call rotations and address critical stability issues impacting users.
• Clearly document work and disseminate knowledge within the team.
• Gain an understanding of the codebase, products, and immediate technical priorities.
• Implement minor fixes or enhancements within the first 30 days.
• Spearhead a significant improvement or feature for the local sandboxes stack within the initial 90 days.
• Influence technical direction and facilitate architecture discussions.
• Achieve measurable advancements in sandbox correctness and performance.
• Assume technical ownership of essential areas within the codebase and act as a technical leader for the local runtime.
• Assist in defining the long-term technical strategy for the filesystem layer.
• Over 6 years of experience in software engineering.
• Proven technical leadership on production systems at scale.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in developing tools for developers, desktop applications, or runtime infrastructure directly utilized by developers.
• Familiarity with the agentic software development ecosystem, including coding agents and tools like Claude Code and Codex.
• Ability to analyze isolation and security boundaries and set safe defaults.
• Experience in steering architecture and technical strategies across multiple engineers or teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working with a high level of autonomy in a remote-first setting.
• Capable of working across macOS, Windows, and Linux.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.
