Senior Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable, efficient, secure, and highly available systems within a continuous delivery framework.

• Produce clean, modular, and maintainable code that includes unit test coverage.

• Standardize design patterns to enhance development speed across the team.

• Take ownership of tasks and deliver high-quality outcomes.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle.

• Influence and prioritize tasks for effective, iterative delivery.

• Convert high-level strategies into actionable engineering tasks in conjunction with product and engineering leadership.

• Identify bottlenecks and system limitations, driving proactive solutions.

• Minimize technical debt and enhance the developer experience.

• Create technical documentation, schematics, and architecture diagrams.

• Advocate for and implement best practices in testing, code quality, performance, and tooling.

• Engage in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

• Utilize monitoring, metrics, and logging to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of technical expertise, including recent experience in architecting, designing, and developing technology platforms using Ruby on Rails, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

• More than 3 years of experience with relational and NoSQL database platforms, such as MySQL and MongoDB.

• Familiarity with modern caching technologies, with a preference for Redis.

• Experience working within geographically dispersed teams and collaborative, team-oriented agile software engineering environments.

• Experience in developing and deploying applications in cloud environments, along with knowledge of cloud-native architectures and services.

• Strong grasp of software engineering best practices and design patterns.

• Capability to work across various technologies and platforms.

• Proficiency in writing quality, modular, maintainable, secure, and testable code.

• Understanding of unit and integration testing best practices.

• Experience with frontend frameworks such as Vue.js, Vuetify, or Angular.

• Proficient in designing and building REST and GraphQL APIs.

• Experience with background processing tools like Sidekiq.

• Strong understanding of service-oriented and/or microservices architectures; familiarity with event-driven patterns is a plus.

• A team-oriented mindset with a strong intellectual curiosity and a desire for continuous learning.
