
Senior Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• You will develop and enhance our e‑commerce application, easybill Connect, utilizing Ruby on Rails.
• You will take full ownership of features and projects — from technical design to implementation and ensuring stable operation.
• You will work on scalable backend solutions, robust integrations, and high‑performance processes for marketplaces, shop systems, shipping, and e‑commerce APIs.
• When necessary, you will also contribute to the frontend using TypeScript and React, focusing your efforts where they create the most impact.
• You will assist with data migrations, refactorings, and technical modernizations, maintaining a strong emphasis on stability, maintainability, and quality.
• You will systematically analyze defects, identify root causes, and ensure that issues are resolved sustainably.
• You will incorporate AI tools such as Claude Code into your development workflow to iterate more quickly, enhance code reviews, understand context, and boost productivity.
• You will share your own ideas, constructively challenge existing solutions, and help continuously enhance our engineering processes.
• You will work closely with Product, UX, Support, and other engineering teams when it aligns with project needs.
• You possess extensive experience in software development and have a solid understanding of how to build, operate, and evolve modern web applications reliably.
• You have strong knowledge in at least one relevant backend stack — ideally Ruby on Rails; alternatively, you can quickly and methodically familiarize yourself with new technologies.
• You think beyond just code, considering products, processes, users, and long‑term viable solutions.
• You work independently, proactively, and uphold high standards for quality.
• You have experience structuring technical topics, preparing decisions, and driving projects forward autonomously.
• You utilize AI tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar solutions as an integral part of your workflow — not simply for trendiness, but because you recognize their potential to enhance speed, quality, and learning.
• You enjoy experimenting with new tools, working methods, and automation opportunities, integrating them thoughtfully into your daily tasks.
• You communicate clearly, reliably, and on equal terms with others.
• You are fluent in German and have a good command of English.
