Senior Software Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable Python services that drive AI-powered workflows.

• Create robust and observable systems with effective error handling and compliance traceability.

• Operate within a serverless, event-driven architecture on AWS.

• Assume responsibility for features from their design phase through to production deployment.

• Collaborate with teams from Product, AI Platform, and Compliance.

• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and project delivery.

• Construct intelligent workflows utilizing LLMs and agentic architectures.

• Integrate AI models into existing production systems.

• Design guardrails, enforce policies, and monitor behaviors for AI agents.

• Provide support and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.

• Lead code review sessions and advocate for engineering best practices.

• Contribute to documentation, demonstrations, and knowledge sharing initiatives.

• Utilize AI coding tools to enhance development speed and quality.

• Help establish best practices for AI-assisted software engineering.

• Influence architectural decisions across various teams.

• Manage complex, cross-functional AI systems.

• Shape the long-term AI platform strategy for Aveni.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Python with experience in production settings.

• Proven track record in building cloud-native systems on AWS, including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, and EventBridge.

• Familiarity with LLMs or AI/ML systems.

• Strong grasp of APIs, asynchronous systems, and scalable architectures.

• Experience with AI safety measures, guardrails, or policy enforcement.

• Background in agentic systems or autonomous workflows.

• Experience in the financial services sector or regulated environments.

• Knowledge of Node.js / TypeScript, Terraform, or CDK.

• Understanding of observability tools and foundational machine learning concepts.

• Pragmatic mindset that balances rapid execution with sustainable quality.

• Inquisitiveness about AI, particularly concerning safety and responsible application.

• Comfort in a fast-paced scaling environment.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts clearly.
