This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Take charge of and enhance OrderYOYO's payment functionalities — facilitating KYC onboarding, deductions, settlement/payout timelines, dispute processes, and merchant invoicing — all while elevating reliability, security, and engineering excellence in one of our essential business areas.
• Design, construct, and manage payment-related services, which include gateway integrations and payment intent/authorization/capture/refund processes, payout orchestration, and reconciliation.
• Execute marketplace functionalities where applicable: onboarding/KYC integration, merchant setup, settlement directives, deductions, and alignment of invoicing/merchant statements.
• Develop sturdy “flow-of-funds” components — idempotency, ledgers/events, and audit trails — that are fully supportable by finance and compliance.
• Connect with PSP and partner tools, paying close attention to tri-party/sub-merchant implications when necessary.
• Establish dispute/chargeback and fraud management points within internal workflows and PSP tools, and collaborate with Ops on runbooks and escalation procedures.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Legal/Compliance, Finance, and Support teams to transform requirements into secure, testable production behavior.
• Enhance engineering quality in a rapidly changing environment through automated testing, secure rollouts/canaries, observability, and incident response improvements — while mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, and contributing to shared standards and documentation.
• Strong backend engineering experience in distributed systems — including microservices, asynchronous processing, resilient APIs, and eventual consistency.
• Experience in production with payment processes (auth/capture/refund, webhooks, reconciliation) and “money correctness” patterns such as idempotency keys, double-entry reasoning, and auditability.
• A robust security focus: PCI compliance, PII protection, secrets management, least privilege, and secure coding practices.
• Comfort operating in an Azure-first setting (APIs, queues/eventing, monitoring), with proficient CI/CD and automated testing methodologies.
• Clear and confident communication with non-technical stakeholders in high-pressure situations — incidents, financial discrepancies, and compliance inquiries.
• Competitive salary
• A remote position — work from anywhere you excel, with quarterly in-person meetings at one of our global offices.
• High levels of ownership and autonomy.
• Clear pathways toward Tech Lead / Staff Engineer roles.
• The chance to work on revenue-critical production systems.
• A strong emphasis on security, reliability, and engineering best practices.
• A collaborative, international engineering team.
• A genuine focus on learning, mentoring, and long-term professional growth.
