This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Denmark.
• Take charge of and enhance OrderYOYO's payment capabilities — facilitating KYC onboarding, deductions, settlement/payout timing, dispute processes, and merchant invoicing — while elevating standards for reliability, security, and engineering excellence.
• Design, develop, and maintain payment-domain services, which include gateway integrations and payment intent/authorization/capture/refund processes, payout orchestration, and reconciliation.
• Implement marketplace functionalities where applicable: onboarding/KYC integration, merchant setup, settlement instructions, deductions, and alignment of invoicing/merchant statements.
• Construct robust “flow-of-funds” primitives — including idempotency, ledgers/events, and audit trails — that are fully supportable for finance and compliance.
• Integrate with PSP and partner tools, paying close attention to the implications for tri-party/sub-merchant interactions.
• Establish dispute/chargeback and fraud-handling processes across internal workflows and PSP tools, collaborating with Ops on runbooks and escalation procedures.
• Work closely with Product, Legal/Compliance, Finance, and Support teams to translate requirements into safe, testable production behavior.
• Enhance engineering quality through automated testing, safe rollouts/canaries, observability, and improvements in incident response.
• Strong backend engineering expertise in distributed systems — microservices, asynchronous processing, resilient APIs, and eventual consistency.
• Production experience with payment processes (authorization/capture/refund, webhooks, reconciliation) and concepts of “money correctness” such as idempotency keys, double-entry thinking, and auditability.
• A solid security-focused mindset: PCI compliance, PII protection, secrets management, least privilege principles, and secure coding practices.
• Comfort operating in an Azure-first environment (APIs, queues/eventing, monitoring), with a strong emphasis on CI/CD and automated testing methodologies.
• Clear and confident communication skills with non-technical stakeholders in high-pressure situations — such as incidents, financial discrepancies, and compliance inquiries.
• Experience with sub-merchant, marketplace, or Payfac-like operational frameworks (KYC, underwriting, settlements, fee deductions).
• Familiarity with dispute management tools, card scheme regulations, 3DS/risk rules, or fraud prevention platforms.
• Competitive salary
• A remote role — work from wherever you perform your best, with quarterly in-person meetings at one of our global offices.
• High levels of ownership and autonomy.
• Clear pathways for progression towards Tech Lead / Staff Engineer roles.
• The chance to work on revenue-critical production systems.
• A strong emphasis on security, reliability, and engineering best practices.
• A collaborative, international engineering team.
• A real focus on learning, mentoring, and long-term professional growth.
