Senior Software Engineer, Patient Platform – Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design and architecture of scalable and high-performance backend solutions that fulfill product specifications and enhance our platform's user experience.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to engineers regarding best practices, design patterns, and coding standards.

• Champion your team's technical needs and priorities within the larger engineering organization.

• Engage in product discovery sessions to evaluate feasibility, explore user requirements, define product features, and validate concepts through prototypes and experiments.

• Collaborate closely with other engineering teams to ensure smooth integration and communication across systems and services.

• Contribute to the team and platform vision as a technical leader, pinpointing new and strategic technologies and technical investments that enhance security, scalability, reliability, and performance.

• Decompose complex projects into clear, actionable tasks to facilitate successful outcomes.

• Implement observability practices throughout the platform, including logging, monitoring, and alerting, to ensure system reliability and performance.

• Elevate the engineering standards of the team by spearheading initiatives to enhance workflows, processes, and tools.

• Analyze performance metrics and user feedback to uncover improvement opportunities and drive optimization efforts.

• Create and maintain technical documentation for architecture and development processes.

• Conduct code reviews and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team.

• Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend enhancements for optimizing system performance and reliability.

• Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices, proposing innovative solutions to enhance the platform.

• Serve as a key participant in the hiring process by assisting with interviews and onboarding new engineers.

• Foster a culture of open communication and continuous improvement by providing constructive feedback and coaching to junior team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a software engineer, delivering production code.

• More than 3 years of experience in back-end distributed system design, development, and delivery.

• At least 3 years of experience with microservice architectures.

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

• Demonstrated experience in building scalable web applications and services, preferably in a cloud setting.

• Proficient in delivering and hosting front ends and microservices on Kubernetes and AWS.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.

• Familiarity with agile software development and delivery methodologies.

• Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes, including integrated unit tests and end-to-end integration tests.

• Knowledge of Relational Databases, especially PostgreSQL.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within and across teams.

• Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously to meet goals without requiring management oversight.
