This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and resilient backend services utilizing Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Create and enhance integrations between the iGaming platform and various operators, aggregators, and external partners.
• Design and implement REST APIs, asynchronous integrations, and event-driven services for high-volume, real-time gaming transactions.
• Develop and sustain platform capabilities related to player sessions, authentication, wallet transactions, game launches, betting, settlements, and transaction reconciliations.
• Collaborate effectively with Product, Architecture, Quality, Platform, and engineering teams.
• Translate external operator APIs and specifications into dependable integrations while identifying technical risks and dependencies.
• Diagnose and resolve intricate integration and production issues across distributed systems, APIs, messaging, databases, and external dependencies.
• Design for failure by incorporating timeouts, retries, idempotency, error handling, observability, and graceful degradation.
• Maintain automated unit, component, API, and integration test coverage.
• Develop automated API and integration tests using Playwright with TypeScript or similar frameworks.
• Contribute to CI/CD, deployment automation, monitoring, and observability efforts.
• Take ownership of software throughout its design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and production support phases.
• Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools and methodologies.
• Continuously enhance code quality, engineering practices, developer experience, and system design.
• Candidates must operate through a fully registered limited company.
• Robust commercial software engineering experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot or Quarkus.
• Strong grasp of backend and distributed system design, including scalability, resilience, concurrency, and high availability.
• Experience in designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with third-party or external systems.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, or RabbitMQ.
• Understanding of idempotency, retries, duplicate handling, eventual consistency, and failure recovery processes.
• Proficiency with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including diagnosing performance or data-related challenges.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and production troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience in logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and service-health monitoring.
• Extensive experience with unit, component, API, and integration testing.
• Experience with Playwright and TypeScript for API/integration test automation, or similar frameworks with the ability to adapt to Playwright.
• Understanding of testability, mocking/stubbing, contract testing, test data management, and test isolation.
• Familiarity with TDD, BDD, and pair programming methodologies.
• A shift-left quality mindset.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across distributed systems and external integrations.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools; reusable AI tooling, workflows, or agents are advantageous.
• Excellent communication, planning, and collaboration skills.
• Fluent in business English.
• Pragmatic and delivery-focused approach.
• iGaming experience is highly desirable, including online casino, sportsbook, or gambling technology.
• Experience integrating gaming platforms with operators, aggregators, wallet platforms, or third-party gaming providers.
• Understanding of iGaming integration flows such as authentication, game launch, wallet/balance, bet, win, rollback/cancellation, and reconciliation.
• Experience with real-money transactional systems.
• Awareness of regulatory, security, and operational considerations for real-money gaming platforms.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Ownership mindset with the ability to take responsibility throughout production.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
