Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Create clean, reusable, and production-ready code.

• Contribute to architectural and technical design decisions.

• Develop and design RESTful APIs and microservices with a focus on availability, scalability, resilience, and fault tolerance.

• Implement secure service-to-service integrations, including authentication and authorization, while adhering to API security best practices.

• Design efficient PostgreSQL and relational database schemas as well as data-access solutions.

• Write and optimize complex SQL queries while working with JPA/Hibernate.

• Deploy, manage, and scale cloud-native applications on Azure using CI/CD methodologies.

• Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployment and orchestration.

• Employ distributed systems, multithreading, concurrency, caching, resilience, retry, and fault-tolerance patterns.

• Create unit and integration tests using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, or similar.

• Engage in code reviews.

• Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, DevOps, and engineers to plan and deliver features and services.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing them with technical direction.

• Diagnose complex production problems, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement lasting solutions.

• Enhance performance, scalability, observability, security, development processes, and code quality.

• Remain updated with relevant technologies and assess potential improvements to the engineering ecosystem.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 5-8+ years of professional software development experience.

• Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and backend engineering.

• Significant experience in designing REST APIs, microservices, and distributed applications.

• Knowledge of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and common design patterns.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with complex SQL queries, subqueries, joins, set operations, aggregate functions, schema design, and query optimization.

• Strong experience with RDBMS and PostgreSQL.

• Hands-on experience with JPA/Hibernate, Git, Maven or Gradle, and automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.

• Experience with Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong skills in debugging, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and performance tuning.

• Understanding of secure backend development practices.

• Experience in Agile/Scrum teams.

• Ability to take ownership, manage shifting priorities, and excel in a dynamic product engineering environment.

• Familiarity with Kafka is desirable.

• Experience with Apache Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL, Spark, OAuth 2.0, JWT, observability tools, DevOps practices, performance testing, infrastructure as code, Domain-Driven Design, Angular, or React will be beneficial or advantageous.
