This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Design and develop high-quality APIs and services for our experimentation platform as well as recommendation and personalization systems—creating experiences that are reliable, efficient, and genuinely beneficial to product teams and users.
• Collaborate with AI (Claude Code) as a primary partner—your main workflow consists of orchestrating agents to formulate specifications, generate code and tests, verify results, and conduct reviews.
• Assist in defining and formalizing AI-Native engineering practices for the team, creating playbooks that can be adopted by the wider organization.
• Build across the backend stack as required—delivering polished, efficient, and dependable experiences to tens of millions of users.
• Work closely with product managers and data teams to transform complex user challenges into elegant, scalable engineering solutions.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, and foster a culture of craftsmanship and continuous improvement.
• Engage in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Utilize agentic workflows to significantly enhance the delivery of strong outcomes—accelerating progress without compromising quality.
• Mentor team members and contribute to team processes, technical standards, and help evolve the team's AI-native engineering practices.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and accessibility across the features you manage.
• 6+ years of experience in backend software engineering.
• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot (our primary tech stack).
• Experience with Apache Kafka or similar distributed streaming technologies.
• Solid grasp of distributed systems concepts: consistency, fault tolerance, replication, and data durability.
• Comfortable with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and containerized deployments.
• Extensive use of agentic workflows, with an understanding of the research-plan-implement cycle, but capable of independent thinking.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in prompting, evaluating, and building with LLMs.
