This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, optimize, and enhance the performance of GraphQL APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries that drive the casino lobby, game launch, and real-money wagering processes.
• Take ownership of significant, intricate technical challenges; create proposals and present them to leadership and collaborating teams.
• Architect, design, and implement features as well as game provider integrations from start to finish within an agile/scrum framework.
• Identify production bottlenecks and risks while promoting scalability improvements.
• Establish and fine-tune DataDog monitoring and alerting for the systems you manage.
• Guide engineers through specifications, collaboration, and code reviews.
• Assist with additional responsibilities as needed.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience in developing applications using Elixir is a must.
• Over 2 years of experience in designing and evolving GraphQL schemas.
• A solid foundation in computer science principles, including data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
• Proven experience with production systems at scale, including load testing and tracing.
• Experience in identifying and resolving CPU hotspots and latency issues in high-throughput services.
• Familiarity with on-call rotations and managing release cycles from start to finish.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture and craftsmanship.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in creating technical specifications, runbooks, and cross-team design documents.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Proficient in terminal environments, Git, GitHub or similar platforms, and code editors.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent tools.
• Familiarity with background job processing technologies like Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalk.
• Experience with asynchronous event handling systems such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
