This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• The primary replication engine: initial cloning of collections followed by ongoing change capture utilizing MongoDB Change Streams.
• Ensures correctness and fault tolerance at scale.
• Supports sharded clusters, replicating data across shards.
• Includes namespace filtering and automatic index management.
• Focuses on performance and throughput by parallelizing the cloning process and applying backpressure.
• Features a CLI and HTTP API that facilitate and monitor synchronization, along with metrics and logging that provide transparency for operators.
• Offers consistent backup, restoration, and point-in-time recovery capabilities for replica sets and sharded clusters.
• Integrates reliably with major cloud object storage solutions and remote filesystems for backup storage.
• Manages the pbm-agent and pbm CLI, coordinating their functions across the cluster.
• Operates transparently: engaging in pull requests, code reviews, JIRA, and community forums.
• Ensures release quality through tests, packaging, and continuous integration and security scanning to validate every change.
• Extensive experience with Go in production environments, demonstrating fluency in concurrency through goroutines, channels, context cancellation, worker pools, and backpressure.
• A solid understanding of distributed systems and data consistency principles.
• Practical knowledge of MongoDB, including change streams, the oplog, resume tokens, replica sets, and sharding.
• Proficient in developing and managing command-line tools and HTTP APIs, with experience in instrumenting them using metrics and structured logging.
• A consistent practice of writing tests that identify real issues.
• Experience working in open-source environments: adept with Git and pull request workflows, providing and receiving constructive code reviews, and effectively communicating in writing with contributors whom you have not met in person.
