Senior Software Engineer, Go

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain tools and APIs that support Megaport's engineering organization.

• Construct robust backend services and CLI tools based on Go.

• Automate operational workflows effectively.

• Enhance access management processes.

• Ensure systems comply with global engineering standards at scale.

• Create high-performance Go-based APIs, microservices, and CLI applications.

• Design and implement systems that orchestrate workflows between systems of record, SaaS platforms, and internal infrastructure.

• Develop and maintain governance-as-code systems for oversight of repositories and services.

• Establish and maintain self-service infrastructure interfaces and abstractions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and maintain reliable Go-based backend systems hosted on Kubernetes/EKS.

• Take ownership of performance profiling and tuning to ensure platform responsiveness and reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven professional experience as a Backend Engineer utilizing Go.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

• Demonstrated experience in building services using Kubernetes.

• Strong knowledge of scalable web service development, including RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.

• High proficiency in designing and consuming APIs, including managing authentication and authorization protocols.

• Expertise in database management, with practical experience in optimizing database performance, designing schemas, and query optimization.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced environment.

• Familiarity with performance profiling and debugging tools for system optimization.

• Experience managing infrastructure on AWS and utilizing GitHub as a core platform.

• Solid understanding of version control systems (Git) and continuous integration/delivery practices.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork.

• Experience in developing internal developer-facing tools or CLI applications.

• A passion for 'Platform as a Product'—you enjoy identifying bottlenecks in the developer lifecycle and creating automated solutions to address them.
