Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete delivery process: design, build, test, and deploy full-stack features.

• Engage in technical design discussions, architectural choices, and initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Implement software development best practices, maintain testing discipline, and conduct code reviews.

• Utilize AI-driven coding tools and workflows effectively.

• Assist with continuous deployment and oversee production monitoring.

• Collaborate with various stakeholders and partner with Product Management to develop new user features.

• Share technical knowledge within the engineering team.

• Produce clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly technical documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• Over 4 years of professional full-stack experience in creating and maintaining web applications.

• In-depth knowledge of software design patterns and principles of clean architecture.

• Proficient frontend development experience with React and responsive web applications.

• Backend experience involving server-side code, data models/databases, SQL and/or NoSQL, and GraphQL and REST APIs.

• Familiarity with AI developer tools and agentic workflows such as Copilot, Claude, or Cursor, along with strong prompting capabilities.

• Knowledge of automated testing frameworks, cloud services, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Capability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience with Agile development methodologies.

• Ruby and Ruby on Rails experience is highly preferred but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with AWS, Heroku, and DevOps practices is a plus.

• Experience in civic technology, public sector software, or platforms for strategic planning and performance management is an added advantage.

• Experience in creating accessible web applications is a bonus.

• Background in working within a distributed, remote team environment is beneficial.
